Buzzfeed, that website that brings you momentous news like “Michael Phelps is Gonna Race an Actual F***ing Shark for Shark Week,” is very upset with President Trump.
And on Saturday their frustration finally boiled over. Why?
They’re distressed that Trump didn’t mention that June was Gay Pride Month. Then again, neither did President George W. Bush.
But Trump is President now, so everyone, clutch your pearls!
After all, Ivanka Trump noticed Gay Pride Month.

So why didn’t her dad?
Maybe it’s because of the way he’s been treated by gay activists. Like the New York Daily News writer who accused Trump of trying to “erase” the LGBT community.
And the Human Rights Campaign, which marked Trump’s first 100 days with this video. . .
. . . and then admonished its followers to “take a stand” against Trump and his administration.
Moreover, the campaign also accused Trump of promoting discrimination.
And then there were the parades during Gay Pride month. Nope, no love for Trump there.
Now, we all know that when someone punches Trump, he counter punches twice as hard. So when gay activists bash Trump at every turn, did they expect him to give them a cookie?
But more to the point, what is the use of National This Week or National That Month? Buzzfeed itself points out all the silly proclamations made by Trump, like “National Financial Capability Month,” or “National Safe Boating Week,” or “National Homeownership Month.” What are these for? I’ve been a homeowner for over 35 years, and never got a card from the government wishing me a “Happy Home Ownership Month.” If you have, please let me know.
In the (infamous) words of Hillary Rodham Clinton, “What difference does it make?”
Look, I have no problem with celebrating Gay Pride month. They can knock themselves out with boas and rainbow banners, for all I care. Have fabulous parades. But stop already with thinking that the federal government should commemorate your pet issue. Let’s keep these proclamations at a local level, among citizens for whom it would have the most meaning. And quit thinking that a Presidential proclamation means anything other than a piece of paper.
Besides, if everyone is special, then no one is special, right?
